Abstract
Advancements in technology have widened the scope of graphic design and the ability of designers to visually communicate, when embracing emerging platforms.
The graphic designer must constantly stay up to date with new techniques and adapt to evolving technologies, allowing them to acquire a wide skillset and enabling them to remain relevant in the field. Significantly, graphic design has been impacted by the possibilities presented by motion graphics, now a practice in itself.
The application of motion graphics to broader design briefs has provided fresh challenges for designers to communicate and may be applied to a range of platforms, from television, to advertising, social media and branding. Like the transition from print design to interactive design, typography, from static to kinetic is explored, through discussion on variable fonts and film and television show title sequences.
The use of kinetic typography in lyrical music videos is also examined to demonstrate the diverse fields of application and constantly emerging visual challenges faced by designers in association with exciting technological developments.
