Hello and Welcome!
Hello and welcome to the blog section of my new website. I’m going to be using this as a space to share ideas and inspiration and share any exciting updates.
Let’s start with an introduction.
My name is Athena; I am a final year Graphic Design student at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University. You will often find me surrounded by plants, dogs or family and friends.
I am inspired by minimalism - clean lines and simple designs. In my work I embrace these elements to try to create designs which reflect this. I find that simple designs can sometimes provide more meaning, through a ‘less is more’ approach.
Despite this, my creative instincts provide me with the desire to experiment through various means of design, colours and patterns and create work which leans toward the abstract.
I had an amazing opportunity to take part in a graphic design placement year away from university, working in a real-life environment of a large corporate business. I found my time at Allstate Northern Ireland to be extremely beneficial in both my personal and professional development as a designer.
I love to weave; creating patterns and designs through different textures of wools and fibres never fails to make me smile, experimenting and combining colours to exercise my creativity.
Feel free to get in touch with me here, on Instagram or LinkedIn.
