Big Mile, Studio Dumbar.

Studio Dumbar, design studio based in the Netherlands, created a visual identity for Big Mile, a logistics service for shipping.

They have created a static logo which has a shift in it, this has the capabilities of moving from one stage to the next. Studio Dumbar has taken advantage of this with the use of motion graphics which I find to be a nice pairing for the logo. The logo was created to illustrate how the service will provide a ‘shift’ within the industry. Studio Dumbar states that ‘the “shift” motif adds a dynamic feel across the visual identity.’

I like the way the logo suggests movement from its static visual and can be used throughout various designs with the staggered layout (see examples below). The reasoning for the ‘shift’ in the logo and the visual representation of a ‘three-dimensional stack of boxes or shipping containers’ make a great combination and make this a piece of effective design.
