DEMO Festival, Studio Dumbar.
Continuing my research on Studio Dumbar and their range of work, I found that their project for the DEMO festival had a similar nature to the Cities in Motion project. The DEMO Festival, Design in Motion Festival, was created to display and showcase the work of motion designers and studios from around the world; their work would be displayed 'for 24 hours on all 80 digital screens located in Amsterdam Central train station.'
Similarly to the Cities in Motion Project, the DEMO Festival project consisted of a custom variable type which consisted of block capital letters moving to reveal a slight curve, slightly warping the letters. I think that this approach ties in nicely with the festival as it was a celebration of motion creators and what better way to highlight this through the advertising design than through motion?
In contrast to the Cities in Motion project, in which each location had a difference colour scheme, the DEMO Festival branding consisted of only two colours. I believe this choice was made to highlight the motion aspect as the most important element in the advertising, linking back to the initial focus of the festival.
